Martinez explained that he is feeling no stress in regard to the uncertainty that looms as he draws closer to becoming a free agent for the first time in his career, partially because he never expected the process to begin as soon as it has.

“It wasn’t hard because it wasn’t something I was expecting,” Martinez said. “I wan’t expecting a two-year deal. I wasn’t expecting them to come to me during the season, anyways.”

Martinez said he is approaching the offseason in the same manner he has throughout his career, hoping to let his body of work to this point speak for itself.

I knew very well that this was a critical game as far as our chances of advancing to the playoffs. so to allow what happened to happen so early in the game, I can really only apologize to my teammates and my fans.
Daisuke Matsuzaka, who allowed 8 runs in 4.2 innings in a last-ditch, must-win game against the Rays. The loss bumps Clay Buccholz out of starting on just 3 days of rest on Wednesday to attempt what could have been a sweep of the Rays.

Jon Lester was roughed up early by the O’s but settles in to allow the Red Sox’ bats to light up a 6-run rally in the 7th inning to take the lead for good in Baltimore.
Battered, bruised, and behind in the standings, this team still fights on like hell.

Introducing “What Went Right”

As every new game passes, the 2010 season for the Boston Red Sox looks like a bust.

We all know that. And that’s not very fun.

Instead of basking in the negativity, I decided today that I’m starting a “What Went Right” series of blog posts here on RedSoxThoughts.com that explore the array of story-lines and performances that “went right,” caught us by surprise or exceeded our expectations as fans.

The truth is, as much as 2010 has been a disappointing season by our lofty standards, and the season is not yet over, it has been a fairly impressive one considering the array of stories and sub-stories over the last six months.

What do you think of this idea?

Boston-boy Delcarmen Dealt to Colorado

For nearly six full seasons, the righthander fulfilled his dream, even contributing as a key setup man to the 2007 World Series champions. But his run with the Sox came to an abrupt end this afternoon when he was dealt to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Single A righthander Chris Balcom-Miller.

The relief-pitching game is a wildly unpredictable one. This move by Theo looks like a maintainable trade that could benefit Delcarmen with the change of scenery.

Hey readers and fellow Renegades!

Welcome to this “State of the Renegade” Address for August, 2010.

I recently decided to start making a monthly habit of writing short, monthly blog posts that…

…the White Sox :)

The Chicago White Sox claimed 12-time All-Star slugger Manny Ramirez off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he will join the team in Cleveland on Tuesday, a source familiar with the situation told ESPNChicago.com’s Bruce Levine.
